What is Total Defense?
As a full-service self-defense gym, members are trained to protect themselves by learning Krav Maga (unarmed self-defense) techniques and attending firearm and safety courses. But that’s not all. With their expansion, they will offer more classes in cross-training, conditioning, and nutrition.
Richie Hatch, an NRA Firearm Instructor and former U.S. Marine, is a Krav Maga instructor at Total Defense. Richie believes that “self-defense is a collection of tools and by combining disciplines, we give clients the set of tools they need and will actually use.”
Combining disciplines under one roof was a big reason for the expansion.
“Defense isn’t just about protecting oneself; it is about fitness, physical conditioning, strength training, nutrition, and flexibility,” said Jakob Hight, a firearm instructor at Total Defense. “That’s why we are excited to have David Kneip join our team. David is a kinesiologist, certified personal trainer, and a nutrition expert. He definitely brings the skills we need to expand our service offering.”
“We are excited about our expansion because we now have experts in every field related to physical fitness and defense. Rather than having to go to a defense class, attend a gun course, pay for a gym membership, or join a yoga studio, we have brought all this expertise in-house,” said Jakob.
In fact, with the expansion, the trainers at Total Fitness have over 42 years of collective experience in self defense and physical fitness.
“No one person can be an expert in all areas of self defense and fitness. Sure, we can all get more certifications, but having more instructors means we can focus on what we are good at and give our members the one-on-one time they deserve,” said Jakob.
Courses offered at Total Defense are for individuals of all fitness levels and ages. Their clientele ranges from women and children to law enforcement officers and experienced athletes.
